The family of late veteran Yoruba actor, Babatunde Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has announced the remaining burial programmes to complete the late actor’s burial rites.

The announcement was contained in a message of appreciation issued on behalf of the family, thanking fans, friends, colleagues, associates and well-wishers who attended Ogogo’s burial in large numbers on Monday, August 24, 2026, in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State.

The family expressed profound appreciation to everyone who turned out for the burial, describing the massive attendance as a demonstration of the love and respect people had for Ogogo while he was alive.

According to the family, although it may not be possible to mention everyone individually, Almighty Allah knows those who supported the family and honoured the late actor.

The family prayed that Allah would reward the supporters abundantly, bless them and their families and protect them from calamity.

As part of the remaining burial rites, the family announced that the eighth-day Fidau prayer for Ogogo will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026, in Ilaro.

The family appealed to Ogogo’s friends, colleagues, fans and well-wishers to continue to rally around them during the mourning period and attend the Fidau prayer in large numbers.

The family said the gathering would provide another opportunity for mourners to pray for the peaceful repose of the late actor’s soul and ask Almighty Allah to grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus.

The family also announced a 40-day Artists’ Day in honour of Ogogo, which will take place at the Pavilion Hall, Ilaro, 40 days after his burial.

The special programme will feature performances and entertainment by actors, musicians, comedians, singers and other practitioners in the entertainment industry.

The Artists’ Day is being organised as a tribute to Ogogo’s life, career and contributions to the Nigerian entertainment industry, particularly Yoruba cinema.

The family described the event as a longstanding tradition and a fitting tribute from members of the entertainment industry to one of its great icons whose contributions would not be forgotten.

The programme will be coordinated by TAMPAN, the Theatre and Motion Picture Practitioners Association of Nigeria.

Ogogo was buried according to Islamic rites on Monday, August 24, following his death after a battle with stage-four cancer.

His burial attracted a large gathering of family members, fans, friends and prominent colleagues from the Yoruba film industry.
