Veteran Nollywood actor Dele Odule has paid an emotional tribute to his late colleague and longtime friend, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, recalling nearly four decades of friendship and the brotherhood they shared with Yinka Quadri.

Odule, writing on Instagram on Wednesday, said Ogogo’s death had created a void that would be difficult to fill, describing him as far more than a colleague.

“Taiwo, this is a loss that no words I put out can adequately describe,” he wrote.

“My dear friend and brother of nearly 40 years. Ours was one of those friendships that life just blesses one with.”

Odule recalled that their relationship began when they were young men trying to find their way in life, long before either could have imagined that the friendship would survive for decades.

“When we met as young men trying to navigate life, who between us would have thought we would form a bond that would last for decades and turn friends into brothers,” he said.

The veteran actor also shared nostalgic videos of himself and Ogogo at social gatherings, including clips of the pair dancing together.

But one of the most poignant parts of his tribute centred on the close relationship shared by Odule, Ogogo and fellow veteran actor Yinka Quadri.

“I will miss you a lot, Taiwo. I will miss the happiness you always exude. Who will Yinka and I banter with now?” Odule asked.

He added: “You won’t be here to remind me that you are my big brother. You have left Yinka to continue that with me. We will both miss the brotherhood we shared for years.”

Odule said the widespread mourning following Ogogo’s death reflected the late actor’s impact not only on the Yoruba film industry but also on fans and communities beyond entertainment.

“Your departure has left a space that cannot be filled. Even the whole world knows that we didn’t just lose our colleague. We lost a brother,” he said.

He prayed for the deceased actor, saying: “Rest well, my brother. You will never be forgotten. May the Almighty Allah accept your good deeds and grant you Al-Jannah Firdaus.”

Ogogo died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the age of 66 after battling stage-four cancer.

He was buried the following day in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State, according to Islamic rites.

Odule was among several Nollywood stars who attended the burial to pay their final respects to the veteran Yoruba actor.
