The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has been directed to produce detained social media influencer and businessman, Afolabi Kazeem Michael, popularly known as “KC Luxury,” in court.

The order was issued by a Federal High Court, Ikoyi, presided over by Justice Friday Ogazi, consequent upon an ex parte application filed by the detainee’s counsel, Abdulakeem Labi-Lawal (SAN).

The court equally mandated the NDLEA to justify the continued detention of the influencer, who has allegedly been held for 14 days without formal charges.

The judge mandated the NDLEA to respond within five days to the fundamental rights enforcement suit challenging the detention, adding that the agency must show cause why Afolabi should not be released or granted bail immediately.

Justice Ogazi directed that the NDLEA be served with the enrolled orders within four working days.

The court equally held that the agency must physically produce Afolabi in court on the next adjourned date.

The social media influencer was arrested by NDLEA operatives on August 13, 2026, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos while preparing to board a flight to Paris.

His father, Eric Afolabi, in a supporting affidavit, claimed his son has been held incommunicado without being informed of the specific offence or arraigned before a competent court.

It was alleged by the applicant that the detention violated his fundamental right to personal liberty as guaranteed by the 1999 Constitution.

According to the substantive suit, the defence argued that the search of Afolabi’s Banana Island residence was conducted without a warrant and yielded no incriminating evidence.

The defence also alleged that operatives seized an iPhone 15 and demanded the password under threat.

Afolabi is also seeking damages in the sum of N190 million.

The amount includes N100 million for the alleged unauthorised circulation of his custody photos and videos, N50 million for unlawful arrest and detention, and N40 million for invasion of privacy regarding his home and phone.

The applicant is also demanding the return of luxury items and cash seized during the operation, including a Patek Philippe watch, a Hermès Birkin bag, €8,000, £3,000, and a Lexus RX350.

It was stated in the motion that there is an urgent medical concern, with the addition that Afolabi is allegedly suffering from acute asthma and requires treatment that the detention facility cannot provide.

KC Luxury expressed willingness to surrender his international passport and comply with strict bail conditions.

Before this time, the agency had linked the arrest to an investigation involving the interception of 184.50 kilograms of cocaine tied to an international trafficking network.

The NDLEA specifically alleged that Nigeria was used as a transit hub for shipments to the UK, Europe, and Asia.

Justice Ogazi adjourned until September 9, 2026, for the hearing of the substantive application.
