THE Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Badagry Command on Wednesday decorated 40 personnel to newly promoted ranks in an elaborate ceremony to celebrate their promotion.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the ceremony held at the FRSC Badagry Unit Command, Lagos State.
The Ag. Unit Commander, CRC Taiwo Ekwo congratulated the newly promoted officers and prayed that God grants them more wisdom and understanding to function effectively in their new level.
“Promotion is from God and God alone and to whom much is given, much is also expected so take your new ranks seriously in the discharge of your duties.
“As you move to the next level, there is a lot of responsibility that will come with this promotion therefore, I expect you to demonstrate a high level of professionalism.
“Do not allow your promotion to get to your head thereby affecting your performance. Continue in the good work and God will continue to honour you,” he said.
Ekwo thanked the family of the promoted officers for the support and the love they had provided over the years which had enabled them to remain committed and dedicated to their jobs.
“Although, the promotion will definitely come with an increament in salary, however, the time you spend with your spouse may be reduced as a result of more responsibilities assigned to them.
“So, I thank your family once again, especially for keeping the homefront and supporting you in all your endeavors,” he said.
The Asst. Comptroller, Nigerian Customs, Badagry Division, Mr Chigozie Uba said that God would continue to guide them and give them the wisdom to carryout their duties with humility.
Uba urged them to always be courteous when dealing with the public and display utmost control especially with irate citizens because they were the first interactors with the outside world.
“Some people might want to provoke you but as a professional, do not give in to anger and manage the situation with calm and ease of mind because courtesy demands it,” he said.
The Divisional Crime Officer, Badagry, SP Cynthia Nzota congratulated them and told them not to rest on their oars because more promotion awaited each and everyone of them in future.
A former FRSC Area Commander, Badagry, DCC Sikiru Aduloju (rtd.) said that promotion was not a right but a privilege and urged them to use their new level to bring honour to the corps.
Aduloju also said that those who did not pass the promotion exam should not be discouraged but rather, see it as a challenge to excel in the next exam.(NAN)
