The former governor of Ogun state, Chief Olusegun Osoba, has appealed to Nigerians to vote for President Bola Tinubu in the forthcoming 2027 presidential election to enable him complete the good works he has started aimed at moving Nigeria forward.
Speaking at a centenary lecture organised for Pa Reuben Fasoranti, the leader of Afenifere, the pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, who clocked 100 years in May in Lagos on Friday, Osoba said, “It was a thing of joy seeing the centurion, hale and hearty, to witness President Tinubu become president.”
The event was attended by eminent Nigerians, including Ondo state governor, Lucky Ayedatiwa; Lagos state deputy governor, Obafemi Hamzat; Minster of Interior, Bunmi Tunji Ojo; former governors of Ekiti state, Niyi Adebayo, Kayode Fayemi, among others.
He noted that Tinubu was prepared to implement the good legacy of Awolowo, which included an egalitarian society.
He noted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) was an offshoot of Alliance for Democracy (AD), which he described as a “progressive political party that produced Tinubu as governor of Lagos state.”
He said Fasoranti, who was Awolowo’s disciple, ensured that the vision which Awolowo had for a better Nigeria came into reality when he endorsed Tinubu’s candidature in 2023.
“Fasoranti made sure the vision came to reality. Tinubu is Awolowo’s son. Tinubu is the first progressive president,” he said.
He espoused Tinubu as sharing the Afenifere philosophy of a better Nigeria, and that he would implement every policy for the betterment, progress and development of the country.
Osoba also hailed the president for coming through for state governors with huge allocations that had made it easier for them to pay workers’ salaries.
He charged state governors to be prepared to execute meaningful projects that will improve the life of the citizenry since more money is now made available to them.
“Governors should do work that the masses will feel the impact, so that people can feel the good work Tinubu is doing. Thank God Fasoranti is alive to see the good work the disciple of Awolowo is doing. We are staunch believers in Afenifere,” Osoba said.
