A Bolt driver has been stabbed to death in Calabar in the early hours of Friday after he allegedly resisted an attempt by three unidentified men to dispossess him of his vehicle.

The incident occurred at about 5:30am along Target Road in Calabar South Local Government Area. The driver was operating a Toyota Corolla with registration number UYY 256H.
According to an eyewitness, the driver picked up the three men along Mbukpa Road in Calabar South and was heading towards Calabar Municipality when they allegedly ordered him to stop and hand over his car key.
The witness said the suspects threatened the driver while the vehicle was in motion and When he refused to comply, they allegedly stabbed him.
“The injured driver managed to drive to a nearby filling station, where he lost control, veered into a gutter and hit the pavement. The three suspects reportedly fled the scene immediately afterward”
Some passersby rushed to assist the driver and took him to the General Hospital, Calabar but was confirmed dead on arrival.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in Cross River State, ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata, said the command had launched an investigation into the killing.
He added that efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest the suspects.
