Nigeria seeks investment in oil and gas sector at China energy exhibition

A Nigerian delegation is heading to China next month as part of the country’s push for investment in its oil and gas sector.

The delegation’s destination is the China Dongying International Petroleum and Petrochemical Equipment and Technology Exhibition (CDYPE 2026), scheduled for 28 to 30 September in Dongying, China.

Oraso Consulting Ltd, which is coordinating the mission, said members of the Nigerian delegation will present a portfolio of investment-ready oil and gas projects at the exhibition.

The delegation comprises regulators, state representatives and indigenous oil and gas companies seeking access to finance, technology, equipment and strategic partnerships, said a statement signed by Tuoyo Memuduaghan for the firm.

He said CDYPE 2026 is expected to host more than 500 exhibitors, including major Chinese energy companies such as Sinopec, China National Petroleum Corporation, China National
Offshore Oil Corporation and PipeChina.

Mr Memuduaghan said a dedicated Nigeria-China country focused session will enable the delegation to engage directly with Chinese financiers, engineering companies, equipment
manufacturers and investors at the exhibition.

“The objective is to present credible projects, identify suitable Chinese partners and advance discussions towards concrete commercial agreements,” a programme official said.

The statement said Nigeria’s participation forms part of efforts to attract credible foreign investment into its petroleum industry and connect indigenous operators with international partners that
possess the required capital, technology and technical expertise.

CDYPE is one of China’s international platforms that bring together companies, investors, manufacturers, engineering firms, technology providers and government institutions from China and other countries.
