The Nigeria Police Force has paraded four suspects allegedly linked to an organ harvesting and human trafficking syndicate operating in Nasarawa State.

The suspects were arrested by operatives of the Special Tactical Squad (STS) during a sting operation in Auta Balifi, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, on August 19, 2026.

The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday, August 28, 2026, saying the suspects were paraded on August 27 following credible intelligence on the activities of the alleged syndicate.

According to the police, the suspects are Emmanuel Ode, 23, of Auta Balifi, Nasarawa State; Dr Benjamin Oyime, 48, a nephrologist and kidney consultant from Edo State; Dr Daniel Otukpa, 53, a nephrologist from Benue State; and David Idoko, 25.

The police said Dr Oyime is a consultant to Wellington Hospital, Life Camp, Abuja, while Dr Otukpa serves as Acting Director of Clinical Services at the hospital.

During interrogation, Ode allegedly confessed to recruiting victims under false pretences.

The police said Ode disclosed that on April 24, 2026, he allegedly lured a 22-year-old man, identified as Samuel Ezekiel, to Wellington Hospital, Life Camp, Abuja, where his kidney was allegedly harvested.

According to the police, the victim was allegedly paid $1,250, equivalent to about N1.7 million, for the kidney.

The suspect also allegedly disclosed that another victim was lured to a hospital in 2022, where the victim’s kidney was allegedly harvested and he was paid N7 million.

The police said investigations further revealed that the suspects and their alleged accomplices targeted vulnerable and uneducated young people in Nasarawa State and neighbouring areas.

According to the Force, the alleged syndicate exploited the financial difficulties of victims to obtain consent for illegal organ harvesting.

Investigators also reportedly uncovered evidence that official documents were allegedly forged to facilitate the activities, including victims’ names, National Identification Numbers, birth certificates, age declarations, affidavits and consent letters.

The police said clothes allegedly purchased with proceeds from the criminal activities were recovered as exhibits during the operation.

The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling human trafficking and illegal organ harvesting networks across the country and protecting vulnerable Nigerians from exploitation.

The Force added that investigations are ongoing, while efforts are being intensified to arrest other suspects allegedly connected to the syndicate who are currently at large.

The police urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities involving human trafficking, illegal medical procedures and the exploitation of vulnerable persons to the appropriate security authorities.
