The Beauty Face-Off Competition (BFOC) returned to the Lagos Makeup Fair this summer, bringing together creativity, colour and some of Nigeria’s emerging makeup talents.

For many emerging artists, talent alone is not enough. Access, visibility, industry connections and opportunities to demonstrate their abilities can be critical to building a successful career. This is the space The Makeup Fair Series (TMUFS) continues to create: a platform where talent can be discovered, creativity can take centre stage, and opportunities can be shared.

The 16th edition of the Beauty Face-Off Competition (BFOC16) took place on 9 August 2026 at the 19th Lagos Makeup Fair Summer Edition (LMUF19) under the theme “Summer in Lagos.”

Ten makeup artists, selected from 40 applications, went head-to-head in a 45-minute live competition, each bringing their individual interpretation of summer beauty to life through colour, technique and creativity.

Glam by Teepha emerged as the winner of BFOC16, with Tifa’s Glam taking first runner-up and Mindy Brows emerging second runner-up.

But BFOC is about more than who takes home the trophy.

At its heart, the competition celebrates the creativity, technical skill and individuality of makeup artists while providing a platform for emerging talent to gain visibility, showcase their work before a wider audience and connect with Nigeria’s growing beauty industry.

The 16th edition was supported by 24 beauty brands, whose contributions helped bring the competition experience to life. Brand partners included Nuban Beauty, Msmetics, Blossom Makeup, Dhoopy Dhoopy, DUNIQUE Beauty, Flirtshade Cosmetics, Yglam Beauty, Niya Beauty, FBH Cosmetics, Gentledove Cosmetics, Luzta Cosmetics, CPD/CHAMPION Skin, Deegutu Beauty, RengCosmetics, Orion 9ja, Olaedo Naturals, Byote, Slosh Beauty, Chee Lashes, Barney Beauty, Paula Beauty, Kleenup Cosmetics, LVH Beauty and Aniepro Beauty.

Together, the artists and supporting brands made BFOC16 a celebration of the people, creativity and products shaping Nigeria’s beauty scene.

With more colour on the faces, more creativity on display and more emerging talent taking centre stage, BFOC16 once again demonstrated what can happen when talent meets opportunity.

Through initiatives such as the Beauty Face-Off Competition, The Makeup Fair Series is doing more than creating events for the beauty industry. It is creating platforms for discovery, visibility and opportunity, one artist and one city at a time.

And the journey continues.

The spotlight now moves to Warri, as preparations begin for the 11th Warri Makeup Fair (WMUF11), taking place on 13 September 2026 at Cedar Event Centre, Warri.

WMUF11 promises another celebration of beauty, creativity, community, and the people and businesses contributing to the continued growth of Nigeria’s beauty industry.
