Nigeria’s women basketball team, D’Tigress are now two victories away from another FIBA AfroBasket triumph as they defeated Cameroon in a quarter-final tie in Cote d’Ivoire.

The six-time African champions advance to the semifinals of the 2025 Women’s AfroBasket tournament with a 83-47 win over Caneroon.

The Nigerian ladies keep their title defense campaign alive and extend their unbeaten run in Africa to 27, dating back to 2015.

With the win, they have moved closer to a record fifth title in a row. Only Senegal have achieved Nigeria’s current feat of four.

Following the dominant win against Cameroon, D’Tigress will now face Seengal in the semi-finals on Saturday August 2.

While D’Tigress continues to rewrite the history of women’s basketball in Africa, Cameroon, a former silver medalist, is fighting for fifth place, which would be an improvement of one place from their performance in 2023.
