The Delta State Government has empowered 150 students across four tertiary institutions with ₦400,000 each under the Tertiary Institutions Entrepreneurship Programme, aimed at promoting innovation and self-reliance among young people in the state.

The empowerment initiative, organised through the Delta State Ministry of Youth Development, took place at Dennis Osadebay University in Asaba.

Beneficiaries were drawn from Delta State University (DELSU), University of Delta (UNIDEL), Dennis Osadebay University (DOU), and Southern Delta University (SDU).

Officials explained that the programme is designed to support students with viable business ideas, enabling them to turn innovation into enterprise while strengthening the culture of entrepreneurship within tertiary institutions across the state.

Each of the 150 beneficiaries received ₦400,000 to help kick-start or expand their business ventures, providing them with the financial backing needed to translate their ideas into sustainable ventures.

The state government noted that the initiative reflects its commitment to youth empowerment and economic development through the administration’s MORE Agenda, which prioritises meaningful opportunities for young people.

According to the organisers, investing in students and supporting entrepreneurship will help unlock the potential of Delta youths while contributing to the growth of a stronger and more prosperous economy in the state.
