Delta State to bridge health workforce gap with ovrode college of health technology

Delta State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery with the ongoing development of the College of Health Technology, Ovrode in Isoko North Local Government Area.

Speaking during an inspection, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Joseph Onojaeme, accompanied by the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, said the project will address manpower shortages through training of health personnel.

He noted staffing needs for the radiotherapy and mental health centres, low turnout in past recruitment, and said the college will produce middle-level workers for hospitals across Delta State.

He also highlighted welfare efforts to curb brain drain, including a ₦951,400 annual grant for resident doctors, and expressed optimism that the institution will commence academic activities promptly under the MORE Agenda.
