Investors in the Nigerian equities market gained another N861 billion at the close of trading on Wednesday.
This followed a surge in the share prices of stocks such UAC Nigeria, Cap and Vita Foam, among others on the trading floor.
The benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) increased to 219,586.2 points from the 218,249.81points recorded on the previous trading day.
After five hours of trading on the capital market, equity capitalisation increased to N141.3 trillion from N140.5 trillion posted by the bourse on Tuesday.
The market breadth was positive, with 31 stocks advancing, 28 declining, and 79 remaining unchanged in 51,694 deals.
A total of 683,684,294 shares were traded, valued at N36.1 billion.

UAC Nigeria, Cap and VitaFoam led the gainers’ chart, with 10% growth each in share prices, respectively, to close at N121.00, N110.00, and N143.00 per share, up from N110.00, N100.00, and N130.00 per share.
Neimeth, Abbey Mortgage Bank and Living Trust led other price decliners, with 10%, 9.85%, and 8.94% declines, respectively, to close at N9.00, N5.95, and N3.36 per share, down from N10.00, N6.60, and N3.69 per share, respectively.
On the volume index, First Holding led trading with 76 million shares in 1,301 deals, followed by UBA, which traded 55 million shares in 2,148 deals.
Access Holding traded 52 million shares in 2, 897 deals.
On the value index, First HoldCo traded stocks valued at N5.7 billion in 1, 301 deals, followed by GTCO, which traded equities worth N4.8 billion in 2,191 deals.
UBA traded shares valued at N2.8 billion in 2,148 deals.
