The Nigeria Police Force has formally transferred the case file on the killing of 28-year-old Mene Ogidi in Effurun, Delta State, to the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation for prosecution. The development comes as disciplinary actions against officers linked to the incident are concluded.

 

Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Placid, confirmed the move on Sunday in Abuja, saying it marks a key step in the process of ensuring accountability over the April 26 shooting.

 

He disclosed that ASP Nuhu and three other officers involved have been dismissed from service following the approval of the Police Service Commission, which upheld recommendations based on investigative findings. The officers are also currently in custody.

 

The police said the investigation established that the actions of the officers amounted to misconduct and abuse of authority, adding that the Force has assured full cooperation with the Attorney General’s office as the matter proceeds to court.
