Amid growing concerns over insecurity across the country, the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries has directed all its branches to discontinue overnight vigils and ensure that church activities conclude no later than 8 p.m.

The new directive was contained in an internal circular dated June 5, 2026, and distributed to Regional Overseers and pastors overseeing branches of the ministry nationwide. The policy takes immediate effect.

Under the revised guidelines, all church programmes, meetings, services and gatherings at every level of the organisation must end by 8 p.m. until further notice.

The ministry also announced the indefinite suspension of overnight vigils and late-night prayer programmes. Church leaders were instructed that where such gatherings are considered necessary, they should be restructured into evening prayer sessions that still conclude on or before the stipulated closing time.

The memorandum was signed by Temitope A. Olawale, Director of Administration for the ministry’s International Headquarters and Nigeria operations.

Explaining the reason behind the decision, the church stated that the measure was introduced as a preventive step to protect members amid the prevailing security challenges in various parts of the country.

According to the circular, the restrictions are intended solely to safeguard worshippers and church workers, stressing that the safety and wellbeing of members remain a top priority during the current security situation.

The development reflects increasing concerns among religious organisations and other institutions over the impact of insecurity on public gatherings and community activities across Nigeria.
