The Christian Media Forum (CMF) has applauded the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, for selecting a Christian as his running mate ahead of the 2027 governorship election, describing the decision as a significant step towards strengthening inclusiveness, fairness and religious harmony in the state.

The forum said the choice of Jerry Adams reflects the governor’s commitment to building an administration that accommodates the diverse religious and cultural interests of the people of Kaduna State. Blueprint reports

In a statement issued Wednesday and jointly signed by the Forum’s National President, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, and National Secretary, Andrew Ibrahim Mshelia, the group said the governor’s decision has restored confidence among many Christians who had consistently advocated balanced representation in the state’s political leadership.

According to the statement, the nomination of a Christian running mate marks a departure from the Muslim-Muslim ticket adopted under the immediate past administration, a development the forum said generated widespread concerns among many Christian communities in the state.

The Forum maintained that the latest political development demonstrates Governor Uba Sani’s determination to foster unity and strengthen peaceful coexistence among all segments of the population.

Inclusive leadership

The Christian Media Forum noted that Kaduna State occupies a strategic position in Nigeria because of its religious and ethnic diversity, stressing that leadership decisions capable of promoting inclusion are critical to sustaining peace and stability.

It said Governor Uba Sani has continued to demonstrate political maturity through policies and decisions aimed at rebuilding trust among communities that had experienced divisions in the past.

The group stated that the governor’s leadership style reflects an appreciation of the importance of fairness and equal representation in governance, adding that such an approach would further deepen public confidence in government.

“The governor has shown through this decision that every segment of society deserves a sense of belonging in the political process,” the statement said.

It added that inclusive governance remains one of the strongest foundations for sustainable peace, noting that the current administration has continued to encourage dialogue, tolerance and mutual understanding among Christians and Muslims across the state.

Congratulations to Jerry Adams

The forum congratulated Jerry Adams on his emergence as the running mate to Governor Uba Sani, expressing confidence that he would justify the confidence reposed in him.

According to the Forum, Adams’ nomination represents an opportunity to further strengthen the bond between government and the Christian community while advancing policies that benefit all residents of Kaduna State irrespective of religious or ethnic affiliation.

The group urged him to serve with integrity, humility and fairness, while remaining committed to the ideals of justice, accountability and selfless service.

It also encouraged him to be a worthy ambassador of the Christian faith by demonstrating exemplary leadership and working harmoniously with all stakeholders to advance the development of Kaduna State.

Call for peaceful elections

The Christian Media Forum appealed to Christians across Kaduna State to continue praying for peaceful, credible and violence-free elections as preparations for the 2027 polls gather momentum.

It urged eligible voters to participate actively in the democratic process and discharge their civic responsibilities peacefully and responsibly.

The Forum equally called on political parties, candidates and their supporters to conduct issue-based campaigns and avoid inflammatory statements capable of undermining the peace of the state.

It stressed that the political season should be used to promote healthy competition built on ideas and programmes rather than religious or ethnic sentiments.

The group further appealed to religious leaders, traditional rulers, youth organisations and civil society groups to sustain advocacy for peace, tolerance and reconciliation before, during and after the elections.

According to the statement, all stakeholders have a collective responsibility to ensure that the electoral process is conducted in an atmosphere of peace and mutual respect.

Commitment to unity

The Forum expressed optimism that Governor Uba Sani’s decision would strengthen public confidence in democratic governance and encourage greater participation by all religious groups in the political process.

It said the decision sends a positive message about the importance of inclusion and equal opportunity in leadership, especially in a state as diverse as Kaduna.
