Bandits killed seven worshipers and abducted several others during an attack on Tsamaye village in the Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
Reports indicate that the attackers, who came in large numbers, struck the mosque around 8:30 PM on Tuesday and terrorised the villagers until approximately 3:00 AM on Wednesday before leaving the area.
According to eyewitnesses, journalists were told that, “We were sitting after Isha’i prayer when bandits invaded the mosque and opened fire.
“The hoodlums laid siege, preventing the worshipers from coming out of the mosque, while other members moved from house to house rustling livestock, looting and abducting residents.”
Findings gathered that seven people were killed inside mosque, while several others were abducted.
As of the time of filing the report, the exact number of abducted individuals could not be ascertained.
However, the spokesperson of the Sokoto Police Command, DSP Ahmad Rufai, stated that the command is aware of the incident but is awaiting comprehensive details.
