ENUGU, NIGERIA – Enugu State Governor, Dr Peter Mbah, has approved the immediate recruitment of 6,580 qualified candidates into academic, technical, and administrative positions across public primary and junior secondary schools in the state.

The mass recruitment drive is designed to staff Enugu State’s flagship 267 Smart Green Schools, embedding technology, experiential learning, and specialised instruction into basic education.

The official notice was issued on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, by the Executive Chairman of the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB), Assoc. Prof. Hyginus Okibe Banko.

Comprehensive Cadre Breakdown

The recruitment drive targets both core educational subjects and specialised technical and administrative support roles needed to run the state’s modern school facilities.

The 4,698 core teaching positions prioritise subject mastery in Mathematics, English Language, Basic Science, Basic Technology, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), French, Igbo Language, and History.

Mandatory Qualifications and Application Guidelines

ENSUBEB emphasised that teaching applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed.), a Bachelor’s Degree/HND with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), or a Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) in relevant disciplines.

The board reiterated that the application process is strictly free of charge and warned applicants against fraudulent extortion. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the final screening and selection interview.
