THE Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has condemned the killing of residents of Naridon Village in Kamaru Ward, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The group urged the Federal Government and the Kaduna State Government to strengthen security to prevent further attacks.
HURIWA made the call in a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, on Wednesday.
It described the reported midnight attack on the farming community as barbaric.
The association said the incident, during which women, children and farmers were reportedly killed, underscored the need for coordinated security operations.
It expressed condolences to bereaved families and prayed for the recovery of those injured and the safe return of abducted residents.
HURIWA said the renewed attacks came when Kaduna was making efforts to rebuild trust, promote reconciliation and strengthen inclusive governance.
It cautioned that the violence should not be allowed to reverse gains made toward peaceful coexistence in the state.
The association said the administration of Governor Uba Sani had promoted dialogue, fairness and inclusion.
It also commended the governor’s nomination of Jerry Adams as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election.
According to HURIWA, the decision reflects a commitment to equitable representation and unity across Kaduna’s diverse communities.
The group urged the Federal Government to reinforce military and intelligence operations in vulnerable communities across Southern Kaduna.
It also called for the deployment of additional surveillance assets and sustained security presence in the affected areas.
HURIWA urged security agencies to adopt intelligence-driven strategies and strengthen rapid response capabilities against terrorist attacks.
The association called for the rescue of all abducted residents and the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the killings and their sponsors.
It also appealed to traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups and community stakeholders to discourage reprisals and promote peaceful coexistence.
HURIWA said terrorists often seek to create fear and deepen communal divisions through such attacks.
It reaffirmed that lasting peace in Kaduna requires inclusive governance, justice, equitable development and effective security for all communities.
The association pledged solidarity with the people of Southern Kaduna and urged authorities to demonstrate equal protection for every Nigerian.
