A soldier has gone missing while two Forest Guards and two civilians lost their lives during an exchange of fire at the outskirts of Tudun Bicci village in Danko-Wasagu local government area of Kebbi state.
The chairman of Danko-Wasagu, Hon. Hussaini Aliyu Bena, said in Birnin Kebbi that some of the bandits perished during the encounter.
“Governor Nasir Idris has strengthened the security architecture of the local government area which paved the way for the return of tranquility to communities, hitherto facing security challenges.
“Troops in joint patrol are now criss-crossing all parts of the localities to boost security and restore confidence in farmers to till their lands without apprehension of attack.
“The latest incident happened when our security operatives were on patrol and encountered bandits who infiltrated across the border from neighbouring Zamfara state,that led to fierce exchange of fire.
“Tudun Bicci is located on the border between Kebbi and Zamfara, and is continuing to enjoy the return of security, while farmers are back to routine cultivation.
“The people of the local government remain thankful to Governor Idris for undertaking a visit to the area in the recent past, and boosting its security situation through adequate care for operatives as well as provision of logistics and materials to the security services,” the chairman said.
