Hollywood actor Ben Affleck and Jeopardy! champion Jamie Ding have won $1 million on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire for charity.

The pair secured the top prize during Wednesday’s episode, one year after Affleck’s Good Will Hunting co-star and longtime collaborator Matt Damon achieved the same feat.

Their final question asked them to identify which pair of turkeys had never received a presidential pardon in the United States.

The answer choices were Peanut Butter and Jelly, Tater and Tot, Mac and Cheese, and Spaghetti and Meatball.

The Thanksgiving tradition was formalised by former US President George H.W. Bush in 1989.

Unsure of the answer, Affleck and Ding sought help from host Jimmy Kimmel, who reluctantly suggested Spaghetti and Meatball.

They also consulted Ding’s trivia partner, Stephen Morrison, but he declined to give an answer.

“I would bet on Jimmy,” Affleck said. “I would go for it.”

Ding submitted Spaghetti and Meatball as their final answer, leaving Kimmel visibly nervous.

“I have such a stomachache right now,” the host said as the contestants waited.

After a prolonged pause, a drum roll confirmed that the answer was correct.

Affleck and Ding jumped from their seats and embraced as confetti filled the studio.

Kimmel subsequently presented them with a $1 million cheque for Affleck’s Eastern Congo Initiative.

Affleck established the foundation with entrepreneur Whitney Williams in 2009 to support community-based organisations and promote greater international attention for eastern Congo.
