Hollywood actor George Clooney and his family have evacuated their home in southeastern France as devastating wildfires spread across parts of Europe.

Clooney, who portrayed Batman in the 1997 film Batman & Robin, left the property with his wife, Amal Clooney, and their nine-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella.

The family live in Brignoles, a town in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region currently threatened by the fires.

A representative for the 64-year-old actor confirmed that the couple announced their evacuation in a letter to the mayor of Brignoles.

“Dear Didier, at this point we have no idea whether our beautiful home makes it through this terrible moment,” the letter began.

The couple expressed concern for residents and pledged to help the community recover from any destruction caused by the fires.

“Amal and I are committed to making sure that whatever happens to our village, we are part of this community and we’ll be part of making it whole,” Clooney wrote.

“We love Brignoles and our friends who live there.”

Wildfires are also burning across Spain, Italy and Greece as emergency workers struggle to contain the flames.

The fires in France reportedly cover an area four times the size of Paris.

About 224,000 people have been evacuated from France’s Gironde region, while another 3,000 have left affected areas in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur.

At least 63,152 people have also been evacuated in Spain, while two firefighters have died in Greece.

George and Amal, 48, made their French farm their primary family home because they wanted their children to experience a quieter life away from Hollywood.

Clooney previously said he was concerned about raising the twins in Los Angeles and exposing them to celebrity culture and constant comparisons with other famous children.

“France — they kind of don’t give a s— about fame,” he said in a 2025 interview.

“I don’t want them to be walking around worried about paparazzi. I don’t want them being compared to somebody else’s famous kids.”

The actor also owns an estate in England, a villa on Lake Como in Italy and another property near his family in Kentucky.
