A former Deputy Governor of Kebbi state, Ibrahim Khalil Aliyu, is dead.

He died on Friday after a prolonged illness in Sokoto where he had been living since leaving office.

The late politician served as deputy governor to former Governor Sa’idu Dakingari from 2007 to 2015.

Reacting to his death, the state governor, Nasir Idris, expressed condolences to the family of the deceased, describing his passing as a “great loss to the state.”

The governor also sympathised with the people of the Yauri Emirate where the late Aliyu held the traditional title of Matawallen Yauri.

Idris said Aliyu served the state with dedication, both as a career civil servant and as deputy governor, noting that his contributions to the state’s development would be remembered.

He prayed for Allah to forgive the deceased, grant him eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family the strength to bear the loss.
