Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has disclosed that he is preparing to venture into acting, revealing plans to feature in films while expanding his footprint as a movie producer.

The award-winning singer made the revelation during an interview with Vibe Q on Thursday.

He spoke about his ambitions beyond music and his growing interest in the film industry.

Davido said he has always viewed creativity as something that constantly evolves, noting that musicians, like technology companies, must continue to innovate to remain relevant.

“Music evolves. Just like technology, Apple every year, they’re bringing out a new iPhone. That’s the same way I look at music. There’s always a new sound, there’s always a new creative idea, there’s always a new way to tell your story,” he said.

The singer disclosed that he is already taking concrete steps into filmmaking, revealing that he is serving as executive producer on two movie projects this year in collaboration with music video director Dammy Twitch. He also hinted at an upcoming documentary, which he described as a major production.

Despite his continued success in music, Davido said he is eager to broaden his creative horizons through film.

“I want to get into movies. I want to start acting soon. I have invested in two movie already as an executive producer. I also have a documentary coming. It is very very big. And yeah, I do want to act at some point in the future,” he said.

While emphasising that music remains his first love, the singer said he is excited by the prospect of telling stories through different forms of entertainment, particularly the big screen.

Davido is one of Africa’s biggest music stars, with multiple hit songs and international collaborations to his name.

Beyond music, he has steadily expanded his business interests, investing in entertainment, fashion and hospitality.

In recent years, he has also expressed interest in supporting the Nigerian creative industry through projects beyond music.
