The Peter Obi Media Office has urged supporters of the Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Peter Obi, not to be distracted by what it described as deliberate attempts by political opponents to create division within the movement.

In a statement issued on Friday by the spokesman of the Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR), Idris Zekeri Jnr, the media office alleged that political adversaries were sponsoring false narratives and attributing statements to Obi in a bid to cause confusion and weaken the movement.

According to the statement, the Obi movement remains committed to national development and is focused on addressing the pressing challenges facing Nigerians rather than engaging in political distractions.

The media office said efforts to create artificial rifts within the movement would not derail its commitment to promoting good governance, accountability and national progress.

It noted that while political opponents were preoccupied with spreading rumours and divisive narratives, millions of Nigerians continued to grapple with rising living costs, inflation, unemployment and insecurity.

The statement further lamented that public institutions across the country needed competent, ethical and accountable leadership capable of delivering essential services to citizens.

“These are the issues that deserve the attention of all patriotic Nigerians,” the statement said, adding that Obi and the NDC remained committed to providing practical solutions to the nation’s challenges.

The media office maintained that engaging in political mudslinging would amount to neglecting the aspirations of Nigerians who are looking for credible leadership and solutions to the country’s socio-economic problems.

It therefore called on those behind what it described as campaigns of misinformation and division to channel their energies towards offering meaningful solutions to the country’s challenges.

The statement also appealed to supporters of the Obidient Movement, members of the Kwankwasoiyya movement and other Nigerians who share the vision of a better country to disregard rumours and fabricated reports intended to create disunity within their ranks.

Specifically, it dismissed reports alleging the removal of the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Dr Yunusa Tanko, describing such claims as part of efforts to provoke confusion and division.

According to the media office, the strength of the movement lies in its collective commitment to building a functional, prosperous and secure Nigeria.

It urged supporters to remain focused on the broader objective of transforming Nigeria from a consumption-driven economy into a productive and self-reliant one.

The statement reaffirmed the movement’s commitment to pursuing its vision for national renewal and expressed confidence that no amount of misinformation or political provocation would derail its mission.
