Real Madrid have reportedly issued Vinicius Junior a final contract ultimatum, telling the Brazilian star to accept the club’s latest renewal offer or risk being put up for sale before the close of the summer transfer window.

According to Spanish newspaper MARCA, the Spanish champions are determined to avoid entering the 2026/27 season with Vinicius in the final year of his contract, a situation that would allow him to negotiate with foreign clubs from January 1, 2027.

Real Madrid make final contract offer

Contract negotiations between Real Madrid and the Brazil international have become one of the club’s biggest priorities this summer, with talks expected to resume over the weekend and continue into next week.

However, the club has reportedly made it clear that its current proposal is final and that Vinicius must decide whether to accept the deal if he wants to remain at the Santiago Bernabéu this season.

Real Madrid are keen to avoid the uncertainty of losing one of their biggest stars on a free transfer or seeing his market value decline significantly if negotiations drag on.

Salary demands remain sticking point

Vinicius has been open to extending his stay in Madrid since first attracting interest from Saudi Arabia in 2024, but the two parties remain far apart on financial terms.

According to Brazilian outlet Trivela, the 26-year-old is seeking an annual salary of around £25.5 million, a figure that includes a loyalty bonus for remaining with the club since joining from Flamengo in 2018.

The salary demand is close to the financial package reportedly offered by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which is said to have proposed a five-year deal worth £170 million to entice him to join Al-Hilal.

Real Madrid, however, have refused to match those figures.

The club’s latest proposal is reportedly worth about £17 million per annum, roughly two-thirds of Vinicius’ demands, leaving a significant gap that continues to stall negotiations.

Future remains uncertain

Beyond the contract dispute, Vinicius also faces increasing competition and tactical challenges ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, adding further uncertainty over his long-term future at the club.

Unless an agreement is reached in the coming days, the Brazil international could enter what may prove to be his final season in Madrid, with the possibility of a transfer growing if the current impasse remains unresolved.
