French Ligue 1 club Le Havre have completed the signing of Nigerian striker Josh Maja on a free transfer, reports Completesports.com.

Maja joins Le Havre after opting against extending his stay with Sky Bet Championship side West Bromwich Albion, where his contract expired at the end of last season.

The 27-year-old has signed a one-year deal with an option to extend his stay by a further year and will wear the No. 9 shirt at the Stade Océane.

The move marks a return to familiar surroundings for the former Sunderland forward, who previously enjoyed a successful spell in France with Girondins Bordeaux between January 2019 and June 2023.

During his time with Les Girondins, Maja scored 25 goals in 85 league appearances, establishing himself as one of the club’s key attacking players before leaving for West Brom.

Le Havre will hope the experienced striker can rediscover that form as they prepare for the new Ligue 1 campaign.

Maja spent three seasons with West Bromwich Albion, where persistent injury problems disrupted much of his time at the club. Despite the setbacks, the striker scored 17 goals in 64 Championship appearances for the Baggies.
