Chelsea have completed the signing of Argentina international Valentin Barco from French club RC Strasbourg.

The 22-year-old signed a seven-year contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2033.

Chelsea did not disclose the transfer fee.

Barco will link up with manager Xabi Alonso and his new teammates later in the club’s pre-season programme.

The versatile midfielder began his professional career at Boca Juniors, making his senior debut at the age of 16 after progressing through the Argentine club’s academy.

He moved to England to join Brighton and Hove Albion in 2024 before spending time on loan at Sevilla and Strasbourg.

Strasbourg later made the move permanent after Barco helped the club secure European football during the 2024/25 season.

The Argentine contributed to 12 goals in 43 appearances across all competitions last season.

His performances earned him a place in Argentina’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Barco has made five senior appearances for Argentina.
