Irish boxer Lee Reeves remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition after suffering a knockout defeat to Gary Cully.

The 31-year-old was knocked out in the 10th and final round of their BUI Celtic super-lightweight title fight at Dublin’s 3Arena on Saturday night.

Medical personnel attended to Reeves inside the ring before he was given oxygen, placed on a stretcher and taken to hospital.

Queensberry Promotions confirmed on Sunday that the Limerick fighter remained under medical care.

“Lee Reeves is still in hospital, in a critical but stable condition,” the promotion said.

“We will know more in the coming days, and our thoughts and prayers remain with Lee and his family.”

Cully, who won the vacant title with the late stoppage, expressed concern for his opponent and praised his performance.

“Hopefully he’s okay,” Cully said.

“He came in there as a big underdog after fighting relatively at a lower level up until now, but he really showed that he can operate at a higher level. Huge credit to him.”

Promoter Frank Warren also sent his support to Reeves and his family, saying Queensberry remained in contact with the boxer’s team.

The contest formed part of the undercard of the bout between Pierce O’Leary and Mark Chamberlain.
