The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has welcomed a baby girl with one of his wives, Olori Oluwatosin, three months after another of his wives gave birth to twin princes.

The revered monarch announced the birth on his official social media pages on Sunday, expressing gratitude to God and confirming that both mother and child were in good health.

The latest addition to the royal family comes barely three months after Olori Mariam Ajibola welcomed twin princes in May.

Ooni announces birth

Sharing the news, the Ooni thanked God for what he described as the precious gift of new life and congratulated the House of Oduduwa on the arrival of the royal princess.

He also prayed that the newborn would grow in wisdom, grace and honour.

“To God Almighty be all the glory for His unfailing grace and the precious gift of new life. Hearty congratulations to the entire House of Oduduwa for the blessed arrival of a Royal Princess through Olori Oluwatosin.

“May the Almighty preserve this divine gift and cause her to flourish in wisdom, grace and honour. We are pleased to share that both Olori Oluwatosin and the Royal Princess are in excellent health,” the monarch wrote.

Olori Oluwatosin keeps low profile

Unlike some of the Ooni’s other wives, Olori Oluwatosin has largely stayed away from the public spotlight.

Although the monarch publicly identified her as one of his wives, the palace has not revealed when their marriage took place.

Her name was also absent from the list of six women whose marriages to the Ooni were publicly announced between September and October 2022.

Following the end of his marriage to former queen Naomi Silekunola in December 2021, the Ooni married Mariam Anako on September 6, 2022.

He later married Elizabeth Akinmuda, Tobiloba Philips, Ashley Adegoke, Ronke Ademiluyi and Temitope Adesegun in a series of ceremonies held between September and October 2022.

Growing royal family

The birth of the princess further expands the Ooni’s growing royal household, with the monarch having announced several births in recent years.

The announcement attracted congratulatory messages from Nigerians and well-wishers on social media, who celebrated the arrival of the newest member of the House of Oduduwa.

The palace, however, did not disclose the name of the newborn princess.
