All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kwara state weekend expressed confidence that it will record another landslide victory in the 2027 general elations having recorded such feat twice in 2019 and 2023 election circles.

The state chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, stated this while addressing members and supporters of the party during a thank you visit of APC candidates in  Osi, headquarters of Ekiti local government and Ilofa in Oke- Ero local government.

The visit was led by the gubernatorial candidate and speaker Kwara House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi Salihu.

Danladi was accompanied by chieftains and support groups, with the APC train kicking off in Ekiti local government and landing at Oke-Ero local government area. 

They were received at the palaces of Olosi of Osi and chairman Ekiti Council of Chiefs, Oba Saliu Abdulkareem Adasofegbe, and Alofa of Ilofa and chairman Oke-Ero Council of Chiefs, Oba Samuel Niyi Dada, being their first ports of call.

Other traditional rulers in both Ekiti and Oke-Ero were also in attendance.

Speaking during the tour, Fagbemi said the state governor and leader of the party, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has been fair to all parts of the states adding that no individual or group of persons have reasons to oppose Danladi’s candidature as the party’s flagbearer.

Prince Fagbemi said the people of Ekiti, like other parts of the state, have benefited under this administration, citing the completion and take-off of KWASU Campus in Osi and the construction of Obbo-Aiyegunle road project, among other achievements in the region.

He said it will be an act of gratitude for the people of the communities to reward such gesture with an overwhelming vote.

“The only thing I want to tell our traditional rulers is that, you will agree with me that Ekiti local government has witnessed unprecedented growth and development since the creation of Kwara state. We now have a functioning (KWASU Campus) university,” he said.

Ondo school sets pace in digital education with e-learning centre

The drive to modernise education through technology received a significant boost, as the CAC Grammar School, Akure, Ondo state, commissioned a state-of-the-art e-learning centre aimed at enhancing digital learning and improving students’ academic performance.

The project implemented in partnership with the Computer Literacy Initiative (CLI), publishers of the Learn with Ease series, featured two fully equipped classrooms with audiovisual teaching facilities and specially designed instructional materials to support classroom learning.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the director of schools in the Ondo state Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Gladys Ilori, represented by Mrs. Olufolake Mapayi, described the initiative as a commendable investment in the future of education.

She noted that technology has become an indispensable tool in modern teaching and learning, while urging students to maximise the opportunities provided by the facility and  calling on staff and learners to ensure its proper maintenance.

Also speaking, the Zonal Education Officer, Mr. Adekunle Henry, represented by Dr. Sola Akinmoladun, praised the school for embracing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to improve teaching standards.

 He encouraged the management to further strengthen the initiative by introducing computer-based examination systems to promote examination integrity and prepare students for external assessments.

In his welcome address, the principal of CAC Grammar School, Dr. Toyin Olobayo, said the e-learning centre reflects the school’s commitment to delivering quality education through innovation and digital transformation.

FULafia approves N50m research grant to boost innovation, external funding

The vice-chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Prof. Mohammed Isa Kida, has approved a N50 million research grant to strengthen research capacity and enhance the institution’s competitiveness in attracting national and international funding.

A statement by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations, FULafia, Abubakar Ibrahim, and issued to Blueprint on Sunday in Lafia said the fund, released to the university’s Research and Conference Development Committee, aims to support high-impact research projects, promoting innovation and improving the quality of academic research across the institution.

The chairman of the committee, Prof. Adam Adebayo Sirajudeen, described the initiative as a significant step towards building a sustainable research culture capable of attracting larger external grants.

He said the university’s research development fund would enable researchers to initiate quality projects, develop robust methodologies and generate evidence-based solutions to societal challenges.

He added that the initiative was expected to improve the university’s research output, strengthen its national and international reputation and enhance its position in global university rankings.
