Arsenal are reportedly considering a €150 million move for Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior as manager Mikel Arteta looks to land one of the biggest signings of the summer transfer window.

The Gunners have identified the Brazil international as their priority target after missing out on England star Morgan Rogers, who joined Chelsea in a £117 million deal from Aston Villa.

Arsenal prepare blockbuster bid

According to Sport, Arsenal are willing to make an offer worth around €150 million but remain reluctant to meet Real Madrid’s reported €170 million valuation of the Brazilian.

Vinicius has entered the final year of his current contract, which expires in June 2027, making his long-term future at the Santiago Bernabéu one of the biggest transfer stories of the summer.

Despite the contract situation, Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez is reportedly unwilling to sanction a sale for less than €170 million (£145.6 million).

The report states that Arsenal believe a fee below €150 million represents fair value, although negotiations are expected to continue.

“Florentino Pérez wants €170 million despite Vinicius only having one year left on his contract, while Arsenal want a figure lower than €150 million to make the numbers work.”

Contract uncertainty fuels speculation

Vinicius has yet to agree a contract extension with Real Madrid, with talks between the club and the player’s representatives still ongoing.

The uncertainty has encouraged Arsenal to monitor the situation closely, with Arteta eager to add one of Europe’s most dynamic attackers to his squad ahead of the new season.

Sporting director Andrea Berta is also reported to have opened discussions with the player’s representatives while awaiting the outcome of the contract negotiations in Madrid.

Real Madrid hold firm

Despite growing transfer speculation, Real Madrid remain determined not to sell one of their biggest stars below their valuation.

The Spanish giants continue to regard Vinicius as one of the world’s elite forwards and are prepared to keep him for the final year of his contract rather than accept what they consider a discounted offer.

Should Arsenal succeed in reaching an agreement, the transfer would rank among the most expensive deals in Premier League history and represent one of the standout signings of the summer window.
