The All Progressives Congress (APC) Integrity Group has endorsed Senator Tanko Al-Makura for the position of the Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) ahead of the 2027 general election.

While discussions and consultations surrounding the appointment of a presiential campaign DG continues, a former Governor of Zamfara State, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has ben tipped as the likely choice, the Chairman of Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) and the Governor of Imo state, Senator Hope Uzodimma is equally a strong contender.

However, the group in a statement by its National Coordinator, Ibrahim Mamman and National Secretary, Goodluck Okafor, acknowledged that several party leaders and loyal stakeholders have shown interest and possess the requisite credentials to serve in such a strategic position.

The group maintained that it believed that the success of the APC presidential campaign would depend largely on the emergence of a leader with proven capacity, unquestionable loyalty to the party, broad national appeal, and a political record free from divisive controversies.

“After a thorough assessment of the personalities being considered, the APC Integrity Group is convinced that former Governor of Nasarawa State and former Senator representing Nasarawa South, Senator Tanko Umar Al-Makura, stands out as the most suitable candidate for the position of Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.

“Senator Al-Makura remains one of the few founding fathers of the progressive movement whose political journey has been defined by discipline, integrity, humility, and service.

“His role in the growth and consolidation of the APC, particularly in the North Central region and across the country, is well documented.”

The group stressed that Al-Makura has consistently demonstrated commitment to the ideals of the party and has maintained cordial relationships across political, ethnic, and religious divides.
