A detention hearing is scheduled for August 3 at Leighton Criminal Courthouse.
A Chicago man charged with breaking into a 62-year-old woman’s home on the West Side and beating her has a prior arrest for the same offense a decade ago according to Chicago Police Department public arrest records reviewed by Chicago Crime Chaser.
Randy Norwood 46 of the 3400 block of West Jackson Boulevard was arrested at 4:15 p.m. on August 1 2026 in the 3400 block of West Jackson Boulevard according to Chicago Police.
He was identified as the person who unlawfully entered the home of a 62-year-old female victim damaged property and battered the victim.
The Charges
Norwood faces six felony counts in connection with the incident.
One count of criminal damage to government property over $500 and under $10,000.
Two counts of domestic battery with physical contact with one to two prior convictions.
Two counts of aggravated battery of a victim 60 years of age or older.
One count of home invasion causing injury.
A detention hearing for Norwood is scheduled for August 3 2026 at the George N. Leighton Criminal Courthouse at 2600 South California Avenue.
Prior Arrest History
Chicago Crime Chaser confirmed through CPD public arrest records that Norwood has a significant prior arrest history.
On April 11 2016 Norwood was arrested on a charge of home invasion causing injury the same charge he now faces in 2026. That arrest was made at 727 East 111th Street on Chicago’s South Side.
On March 7 2016 Norwood was arrested on charges of criminal damage to property and phone harassment.
On June 17 2014 Norwood was arrested on charges of battery causing bodily harm and domestic battery by physical contact.
On November 16 2023 Norwood was arrested on a charge of battery by physical contact near Rush Street in the 18th District.
The domestic battery charges in the current case note one to two prior convictions which is consistent with his prior arrest history.
