The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested five suspects in separate operations involving alleged burglary and suspected drug trafficking within Bauchi metropolis.

The arrests were made by operatives of the Violent Crimes Response Unit (VCRU) during routine patrols on August 3.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, said three suspects were apprehended at Doya Quarters while transporting suspected stolen property in a tricycle.

Recovered exhibits included assorted shoes, clothes, jewellery, a gas cylinder, a 32-inch television set and a table gas cooker, all believed to have been stolen from a residence in Unguwar Sarakuna.

In a separate operation carried out later the same day at Bayan Gari, the police arrested Mansur Sani, 25, and Umar Muhammad, 30, both residents of Bakin Kura.

The suspects were allegedly caught exchanging two parcels of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.

Habib said investigations had commenced into both cases, while efforts were underway to arrest another burglary suspect still on the run and identify the source of the suspected illicit substance.

He added that all suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigations.

Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, praised the officers for the successful operations and appealed to members of the public to continue providing credible information to security agencies.
