Anthony Nunnally, 21, of the 9500 block of South Bennett Avenue, Chicago, was arrested August 3, 2026, and charged with two counts of first-degree murder for the fatal shooting of Sierra Evans, 19, on September 28, 2024, and Gabriela Arellano, 17, on October 26, 2025, in separate South Side shootings. CPD records show Nunnally was also arrested for aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm two days after the second killing and released before being charged with both murders. A 21-year-old South Side man has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder after Chicago Police identified him as the person responsible for two separate fatal shootings of young women on the South Side more than a year apart, according to the Chicago Police Department.

Anthony Nunnally, of the 9500 block of South Bennett Avenue, was arrested on August 3, 2026, by members of the Homicide Investigations and Support Team in the 2700 block of South California Avenue.

The Two Victims

Sierra Evans, 19, was found unresponsive on the 9500 block of South Avenue N on September 28, 2024, with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to CBS News Chicago.

Gabriela Arellano, 17, was found unresponsive around 9:30 a.m. on October 26, 2025, in the 11000 block of South Mackinaw Avenue. She had suffered gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to ABC7 Chicago.

Arrested for Carjacking Between the Two Killings

Chicago Crime Chaser confirmed through CPD public arrest records that Nunnally was arrested on October 28, 2025, just two days after Gabriela Arellano was killed, on a charge of aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm at 14432 Irving Avenue.

He was released from custody on October 30, 2025.

At the time of the carjacking arrest, investigators had not yet publicly identified Nunnally as a suspect in either murder.

He was subsequently released before homicide detectives connected him to both killings.

Nunnally remained free until August 3, 2026, when members of the Homicide Investigations and Support Team arrested him and charged him with both murders.

The Charges

Nunnally faces two felony counts of first-degree murder in connection with both shootings.

A detention hearing is scheduled for August 5, 2026, at the George N. Leighton Criminal Courthouse at 2600 South California Avenue.
