The Benue state governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia,  Wednesday pledged the full support of his administration for the establishment of the newly approved Nigerian Army formations in the state, including the construction and furnishing of the headquarters of the new 5 Division.


He gave the assurance when he received a delegation from the Army Headquarters Implementation Committee at the Old Banquet Hall, Government House, Makurdi.


Governor Alia described the establishment of the formations as a major step towards improving security in Benue and stated that it would strengthen the state’s security architecture and restore public confidence.
He assured that the state government would provide land for all the approved formations and units and supply the logistics needed for the smooth take-off of the new division.
The governor thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the formations and siting the 5 Division headquarters in Benue.He expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff and the leadership of the Nigerian Army for the decision.
He said the people of Benue state had long awaited a stronger military presence owing to protracted security challenges, whilst also paying tribute to officers and soldiers who lost their lives defending the country.
