Afrobeats artist, Davido has opened up on the important role his friend, Lati, played in the growth of his music career. The singer, while speaking during a livestream with Carter Efe, revealed that his childhood friend, Lati, helped shape his career.

Davido explained that Lati worked for his late mother before she passed away, adding that although he was asked to leave their home after his father remarried, they remained close friends.

He also noted that Lati deserves credit for his success, disclosing that he used to drive him to recording studios without anyone knowing.

“Without Lati, there’s no Davido. Lati used to work for my mum. My mum passed, you know, Lati used to work for my mum. So when my mum passed, you know, Lati stayed around. And then when my mum passed, my step mum came, chased Lati away from the house. Lati would sneak me in his car, go to the studio… He used to do music and DJ. So then he would carry me to the studio,” he explained.
