The Renewed Hope Grassroots Movement (RHGM) has formally endorsed the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Barr. Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for a second term in office, citing what it described as his administration’s transformational leadership and people-centred governance.

In a press statement issued by the group’s Southeast Zonal leadership, RHGM said the endorsement followed extensive consultations and an assessment of Governor Mbah’s performance since assuming office on May 29, 2023.

The movement, led in the Southeast by its National Zonal Coordinator, High Chief Elvis Livinus Chijiuba Aniebo, said the governor had demonstrated a strong commitment to infrastructure renewal, economic growth, security, healthcare, education, agriculture, investment promotion and public service reforms across the state.

According to the statement, RHGM believes Mbah’s administration has delivered visible developmental projects, including extensive road construction and rehabilitation, modern transport terminals, the establishment of Enugu Air, the development of 260 Smart Green Schools and 260 Type II Primary Healthcare Centres across the state’s wards, as well as the New Enugu Smart City project.

The group also highlighted the reconstruction of the International Conference Centre, the revitalisation of the Presidential Hotel, and efforts to attract private investments, including a proposed $20 million Haier laptop and smartphone manufacturing facility.

On security, RHGM praised the governor’s deployment of an AI-powered digital security architecture comprising a central command and control centre, CCTV surveillance, drone technology, intelligent monitoring systems and integrated communication among security agencies. It said the initiative had strengthened intelligence gathering, crime detection and investor confidence in the state.

The organisation further commended what it described as the growing collaboration between the Enugu State Government and the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying such cooperation was essential for accelerating development and delivering democratic dividends.

Explaining its endorsement, RHGM said its decision was anchored on visible infrastructural development, commitment to modernisation, a development-focused style of governance, promotion of security and investment, and partnership with the Federal Government.

The movement declared that “there is no vacancy in the Enugu State Government House,” urging political stakeholders and other governorship aspirants to support the continuation of Mbah’s administration in the interest of the state.

RHGM also referenced the 2026 Phillips Consulting State Performance Index, which it said recognised Enugu as Nigeria’s fastest-improving state based on development momentum and governance improvement.

The group pledged to mobilise its grassroots structures across the state’s 260 political wards to support Governor Mbah’s re-election bid, while calling on residents, youths, women and stakeholders to unite behind what it described as the journey of continuity, progress and sustainable transformation.
