The Deputy Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Sokoto State, Hon. Bello Isa Ambarura, has said the party is fully prepared to contest the 2027 general elections.

He addressed newsmen in Sokoto on Wednesday shortly after a thank-you visit to the State Headquarters of the African Democratic Congress.

Hon. Ambarura, who currently serves as a member of the House of Representatives representing Gwadabawa/Illela Federal Constituency on the platform of the ADC, said the visit was to express appreciation to the party leadership and members for selecting him as the flag bearer.

“It was to thank them for choosing me out of thousands to be the flag bearer and deputy governorship candidate of the ADC in Sokoto State.

I thank them for the support and I also solicit their cooperation,” he said.

Speaking on what informed his selection, he attributed it to merit and over three decades of public service.

“Of course, the party considered merit. All of you know that I have been in the state for over 35 years, and I have rendered a lot of services, from Clerk up to Permanent Secretary.

I was once the Permanent Secretary of the State Pilgrims Welfare Agency and I served diligently.

I also served as a member of the State House of Assembly, and now I am serving as a member of the House of Representatives, representing Gwadabawa/Illela Federal Constituency. That is the criteria,” Ambarura stated.

With about six months to the election, the ADC candidate said the party is ready to challenge the APC and other parties.

“We just have about six months to the election now. We are ready. That is all,” he said.

Hon. Ambarura appealed to all ADC members across the 23 Local Government Areas of the state to remain united and support the party.

“My appeal to ADC members across Sokoto is to support the party. Support the pledge,” he said.

On expectations for the election, he said: “That is the will of Allah. We are ready to accept the will of Allah.

We are ready to participate actively and we also pray to Almighty Allah to grant us success.”

Members of the party and officials at the state secretariat received the candidate and described the visit as a demonstration of commitment ahead of the polls.
