The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has uncovered two more fake government agencies linked to Adeniyi Matthew Adeyemi, the self-proclaimed Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, deepening the probe into the fraud scheme.

Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has ordered the EFCC to vacate a court order freezing Osun State Government accounts, citing concerns over the timing of the action just days before the state’s governorship election.

Elsewhere, former Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun has lost her husband, Anthony Adeniyi Adeosun, who died in Lagos at 62.

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma’s aide has fired back at Davido over the Osun election, telling him to prepare to sign his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, “as a dancer” after the poll.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has remanded a retired DSS officer, Nwaogu Ihechimere Ezeakolam, over alleged support for the proscribed IPOB and Vinicius Junior has agreed a new six-year contract with Real Madrid, ending Arsenal’s hopes of signing him.

ICPC uncovers two more fake agencies in PFIPC probe

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has uncovered two additional fake government agencies linked to Adeniyi Matthew Adeyemi, the self-proclaimed Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, as investigations into the alleged fraud continue to deepen.

ICPC Chairman Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu disclosed this on Thursday while briefing State House correspondents, following the presentation of the commission’s interim investigation report to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to Aliyu, investigators found that Adeyemi was never appointed by the Federal Government and that the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council lacked any legal backing, having been established neither by an Act of the National Assembly nor by an executive order.

The interim findings also revealed that the appointment letter Adeyemi used was forged and that the fake PFIPC had unlawfully taken over the offices and official instruments previously used by the now-defunct Presidential Economic Advisory Council.

President Bola Tinubu has directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to immediately return to court and vacate the order freezing the accounts of the Osun State Government.

According to the President, the directive was necessary to protect public confidence in the democratic process, given that the state is only days away from its governorship election.

Tinubu clarified that he was not opposed to the EFCC exercising its statutory powers, but was concerned about the timing of the action.

He noted that it had come to his attention that the EFCC obtained a court order on August 5, 2026, freezing the accounts of the Osun State Government.

Prepare to sign your uncle as dancer after election loss, Uzodimma replies Davido

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has responded to comments made by Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, over the forthcoming Osun State governorship election, telling the singer to prepare to sign his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, as a dancer after the poll.

Davido had, during a press conference on Wednesday, appealed to an unnamed politician from Imo State to allow a free and fair election in Osun, alleging he had heard rumours of plans to interfere in the August 15 governorship poll.

Although the singer did not mention Uzodimma by name, he urged the politician to promote peace and allow the people of Osun State to freely elect their preferred candidate.

Reacting in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Electronic and Creative Media, Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, on Thursday, Uzodimma said Davido should direct his appeal to Osun voters rather than to him.
