Real Madrid have completed the signing of Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig in a deal worth up to £120 million (€140 million).

The 19-year-old has signed a seven-year contract with the Spanish club. If all performance-related bonuses are met, the transfer could become more expensive than the deal that brought Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund in 2023.

French champions Paris Saint-Germain were also interested in Diomande, but pulled out of the race after RB Leipzig rejected their £102.5 million offer.

Liverpool had earlier tried to sign the youngster as a possible replacement for Mohamed Salah, but their opening bid of £69 million was also turned down.

Diomande becomes Real Madrid’s sixth signing of the summer under new head coach Jose Mourinho. He joins Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, Marc Cucurella and Carlos Espi at the club.

The young winger enjoyed an impressive 2025/26 season, winning the Bundesliga Young Player of the Season award after scoring 12 goals and providing eight assists.

On the international stage, Diomande played in all four of Ivory Coast’s matches at the World Cup before the team was knocked out by Norway in the quarter-finals.

Diomande began his football journey in Ivory Coast before moving to a football academy in the United States. He later joined Spanish side Leganes in 2025 and moved to RB Leipzig later that same year.
