The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 33-year-old woman, Adejoke Ayomide, over an alleged visa fraud involving N42.326 million reportedly obtained from more than 90 prospective travellers under the guise of facilitating travel visas to Europe.

The suspect, a resident of Adesoye Street, Abeokuta, Ogun State, was arrested following investigations launched by the command after a petition was submitted by Barrister Akindayomi Oluwa Tobi & Associates last month.

It was gathered that the suspect allegedly collected the money from victims between October 2024 and April 5, 2026, after presenting herself as a travel consultant capable of securing visas to Spain, Portugal and France.

According to the police, more than 93 intending travellers entrusted the suspect with processing their travel documents, while a total of N42.326 million was allegedly paid into her OPay account for the purported visa processing.

The command said the suspect allegedly became unreachable after receiving the funds, prompting the victims to petition the police.

Speaking on the arrest, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abayomi Jimoh, who confirmed the development, said detectives deployed intelligence-gathering and forensic investigative techniques to trace the suspect before she was apprehended in a coordinated operation.

He disclosed that the suspect is currently in police custody and has made useful confessional statements, adding that investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the alleged fraud, identify possible accomplices and establish whether there are additional victims.

The PPRO said the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations. He commended the investigating officers and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating financial crimes and ensuring that offenders are brought to justice.

Jimoh advised members of the public to verify the credentials of travel agents before making payments for visa processing and overseas travel arrangements, and to promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
