The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Bauchi State Chapter, has pledged to work closely with the newly appointed Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Bashir Ya’u, to promote sports development in Bauchi State.

The pledge was contained in a congratulatory statement issued after the commissioner’s swearing-in, in which the association also praised Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for appointing a new head for the ministry.

Signed by SWAN Chairman Bala Bawaji and Secretary Elizabeth Kah, the statement described the appointment as timely and expressed confidence in the commissioner’s ability to reposition the sports sector.

The association noted that it expects the new commissioner to strengthen youth engagement, improve sporting facilities, support grassroots sports programmes, and enhance the performance of Bauchi athletes.

SWAN assured the commissioner of its full cooperation through professional sports reporting and advocacy while wishing him a productive and successful tenure in office.
