Cynthia Morgan backs Peter Okoye, says artistes often suffer in silence

Singer Cynthia Morgan has weighed in on the ongoing feud involving music star Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, and his elder brother, Jude Okoye, saying many artistes endure emotional struggles behind the scenes before speaking out.

Morgan shared her thoughts in an Instagram post on Friday, where she reacted to comments describing Peter’s emotions as “destructive.”

“I read somewhere that Peter’s emotions are destructive. Now here is my take on this and I am speaking from experience,” she wrote.

The singer said artistes are often conditioned to prioritise their careers above their personal lives, leaving them to suppress emotions stemming from love, grief, abuse and pressure.

“As an artiste, most of us are conditioned to always put our craft over anything. Love, grief, abuse, pressure etc. So when you see an artiste that you think has become destructive, just know they’ve maxed out and can no longer pretend, and until they vent or go to therapy, they will never be normal,” she said.

Morgan added that many entertainers make enormous sacrifices to build careers admired by the public, noting that older artistes faced greater pressure because their public image was often built on mystery.

“Artistes sacrifice so much to be the people you admire… These new artistes might have it easier because we are in an internet age and people are less judgmental, but the older ones, and especially if you come from the P-Square circle, some of our brands were built on mystery. You think you know us, but you don’t,” she wrote.

In the caption accompanying the post, she wrote, “The Lord is close to the broken-hearted #peterpsquare. I wish you peace and salvation.”

Morgan’s post comes amid the renewed public dispute between Peter Okoye and his elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, with the brothers exchanging allegations over the management of P-Square’s affairs and long-standing family issues.
