The family of late Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba has announced that she will be buried on Thursday, August 13, 2026, in her hometown of Iperu Remo, Ogun State.
The burial arrangement was disclosed in a notice shared on the actress’ official Instagram page on Friday.
According to the announcement, the funeral service will be held between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. at Saint James Anglican Church, Iperu Remo, after which she will be laid to rest at the Iperu Remo Cemetery.
The family also requested that mourners attend the burial ceremony dressed in white.
Candlelight procession slated for August 11
Ahead of the burial, friends and colleagues of the late actress have organised a candlelight procession and artists’ night in her honour.
The event, tagged “An Evening of Love, Music & Memories,” is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, August 11, at LTV 8 (Blueroof), Ikeja, Lagos.
According to organisers, the programme will commence at 5:00 p.m. and will celebrate Osoba’s life, creativity and contributions to the Nigerian entertainment industry.
The organisers said the gathering would bring together family members, colleagues, friends and admirers to honour her legacy.
Colleagues pay emotional tributes
Osoba’s death was announced on Wednesday by fellow actor Alesh Sanni, who described the actress as a beloved sister and close friend.
“Couldn’t sleep since last night, it’s well. Rest in peace my dearest sister, Temitope Osoba. We had amazing time and good memories together, till we meet again. I really dunno what to say mehn, gosh,” Sanni wrote.
Actress Adeyemo Seilat also mourned the late actress, saying she was saddened by the death of another young entertainer.
“Sigh! I hate to hear about the death of young people. Life is vanity! Rest in peace Tope Osoba. May you find eternal rest,” she wrote.
The tributes have continued to pour in from colleagues and fans, many of whom remembered Osoba for her remarkable performances in Yoruba-language Nollywood films.
Actress returned after cancer battle
Osoba’s death came about two years after she publicly revealed that she had battled cancer and appealed for financial assistance for her treatment.
Following her recovery, she made a return to the movie industry in August 2025, describing the experience as life-changing.
She said she intended to use her platform to promote cancer awareness while encouraging and supporting others facing similar health challenges.
The actress also expressed appreciation to her management team and supporters for standing by her throughout her recovery.
Family dismisses rumours
Meanwhile, Osoba’s family has urged the public to disregard reports circulating on social media concerning the circumstances surrounding her death.
In a statement shared through her official social media page, the family described the reports as false, speculative and unauthorised.
The family appealed for privacy as they mourn their loved one, adding that any verified information would only be communicated through authorised representatives or official channels.
Temitope Osoba, who died at the age of 40, will be laid to rest on August 13, two days after family, friends and colleagues gather in Lagos to celebrate her life and lasting contribution to the Nigerian film industry.
