The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has assured 1,600 corps members deployed to Bauchi State for the 2026 Batch B Stream II service year of adequate welfare and security throughout their national assignment.

The assurance was given as the corps members were formally sworn in on Friday at the NYSC orientation camp in the state.

The NYSC Bauchi State Coordinator, Mr Umoren Kufre, said the orientation exercise would equip the corps members with the mental, physical and psychological preparation required for successful national service.

According to him, the programme would feature paramilitary drills, physical training, lectures, citizenship and leadership development, as well as skills acquisition and entrepreneurship training.

Kufre urged the corps members to obey camp regulations and use established channels to report complaints or irregularities.

“In case you notice any irregularity, do not take the law into your hands; always ensure that you follow the proper channel of communication to express your grievances,” he said.

He assured the corps members that their safety and comfort remained a priority, adding that management would ensure the provision of essential amenities at the orientation camp.

The NYSC coordinator commended Governor Bala Mohammed for supporting the scheme, particularly through the renovation of corps members’ hostels and construction of a multipurpose hall.

He also praised the governor for prioritising the welfare and security of corps members serving in the state.

In his remarks, Governor Bala Mohammed, represented by the Head of Service, Mohammed Umar, urged the corps members to take their national assignment seriously and contribute to the development of their host communities.

He encouraged them to develop Community Development Service projects that would address the needs of their communities.
