The Police Service Commission (PSC) has formally handed over 50,000 newly recruited Police Constables to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) for training.
A press statement by the PSC Head, Protocol and Public Relations, Torty Kalu, Thursday in Abuja, said the handover ceremony held at the Commission’s Corporate Headquarters, Abuja.
He said Justice Paul Galumje, JSC (retd.), Commissioner 1, presiding on behalf of the PSC Chairman, said the exercise was conducted in line with the directive of President Bola Tinubu, and relevant statutes.
The Spokesperson noted that Justice Galumje thanked the President for his support and formally handed over the recruits for training at designated Police Colleges and other approved institutions in accordance with approved standards and best practices.
The detailed list of successful candidates contained in a flashdrive, was handed over to the police, Kalu said.
Receiving the list of recruits on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Training and Development, DIG Isyaku Mohammed, commended the Commission for a transparent exercise and assured that training will commence nationwide once funds are released.
The Ministry of Police Affairs, represented by Mr. Ibrahim A. Muhammad, Director, Police Service Department, described the process as credible and transparent.
The Secretary to the PSC, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, who also attended the event, expressed delight at the commendable outcome of the recruitment exercise, which he attributed to teamwork by all stakeholders.
