Bashiru-Kaka Promises Reforms, Youth Devt To Nigerians In Manchester

The newly elected Chairman of the Nigerian Community Greater Manchester, United Kingdom, Mr Dele Bashiru-Kaka, has promised to reposition the organisation through reforms focused on youth development, members’ welfare and transparent governance.

His election followed a campaign centred on community empowerment and institutional reforms, according to a statement issued on Thursday.

In his acceptance speech, Bashiru-Kaka thanked members of the community for the confidence reposed in him and paid tribute to his predecessor, Abiola Kumoye, adding that his election signalled the beginning of a new phase for the organisation.

“Today, the campaign ends, and the collective work of transformation begins. Our administration will be anchored on a united leadership rooted in quality, inclusivity, and a shared unity of purpose. We are one family, and we need every hand on deck to move ahead,” Bashiru-Kaka said.

The new chairman said his administration would prioritise youth development by creating educational, mentorship and career opportunities for young Nigerians living in Greater Manchester.

He added that the executive would strengthen welfare support for members, particularly the elderly, while introducing reforms to improve accountability and transparency within the organisation.

The statement said the administration also plans to deepen collaboration with the Nigerian High Commission, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission and other international Nigerian organisations to expand opportunities for members of the community.

It added that Bashiru-Kaka intends to introduce transparent financial management, performance benchmarks and an open feedback mechanism to strengthen institutional governance.

The chairman reaffirmed his commitment to ethical leadership, constitutional governance and the rule of law.

The Nigerian Community Greater Manchester is an umbrella body that promotes unity, cultural identity and the socio-economic advancement of Nigerians residing in the Greater Manchester area of the United Kingdom.
