The Chairman of Niger State chapter of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ahmed El-Wazir has said the resolution of internal crisis has positioned the party to consolidate its growing popularity at the grassroots as a formidable opposition to unseat the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) government in 2027 elections.

El-Waziri disclosed this in Minna while addressing journalists shortly after a critical stakeholders’ meeting, saying his party is now a credible alternative to the APC that could rescue the state from the ruling party’s misrule.

According to him, the growing popularity of the party would only translate into electoral victory if members remained united and worked together towards the common mission of unseating the governor Umaru Bago-led government.

He also reaffirmed the party’s commitment to an issues-based campaign ahead of the 2027 elections, stressing that the ADC would work towards ensuring a peaceful and credible electoral process.

The chairman urged the APC-led government to embrace a level playing field and allow opposition parties to campaign freely without intimidation.

On the choice of a running mate for the party’s governorship candidate, El-Waziri said consultations were already at an advanced stage, assuring party members that the decision would be announced soon.

He said, “Our party is now united. We don’t have any unresolved dispute. It is on this note that I must announce to all our loyal members that the only mission of the party is to unseat the present APC government come 2027 general elections.

“The growing popularity of ADC across the state is not enough to wrestle power from the ruling party until all members stand against the misrule under a common united front.

“We are committed to issues-based campaigns and peaceful elections. We urge the ruling APC to borrow a leaf by promoting a level playing field rather than resorting to intimidation,” he stated.
